The extra sugar or the glucose that builds up in the blood, forces the kidneys filter it. This makes a person more dehydrated, causing, frequent thirst. It makes you drink more fluids, which causes frequent urination. This happens especially at night disturbing one’s sleep.

Persistent hunger:

Diabetic hyperphagia, also called as polyphagia, is a condition common in people with diabetes who are always hungry despite eating plenty of food. This happens because of insulin problems interfere with the transfer of glucose (sugar) into energy, which causes persistent hunger.

Unexplained weight loss:

If you're losing weight without working out, it could be a sign of diabetes. This happens when the body doesn't have enough insulin in the bloodstream to properly utilize glucose. So, the body starts breaking down fat and muscle for to create the energy needed. This results in sudden weight loss.

Fatigue or Weakness:

If you are feeling tired even after getting enough rest, it might indicate high blood sugar levels. In people with diabetes, the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or the body does not use insulin effectively. This causes excess glucose in the blood. The fatigue and weakness may result when the cells do not get enough glucose.

Blurry vision:

High blood sugar damages blood vessels in the retina, and changes the shape of the eye’s lens which leads to blurry vision, also known as diabetic retinopathy.

Frequent Infections:

The presence of high blood sugar levels in the body weakens the immune system. A weak immune system makes it harder for the body to fight off infections. When the immune system is compromised, blood circulation in the body gets affected. An improper blood circulation leads to slow wound healing and frequent infections.

Tingling or numbness in hands or feet:

The most common symptoms in diabetes are numbness, tingling, a burning feeling, aching, cramps and weakness. These symptoms often begin in their feet or hands could later spread to legs and arms. This is known as peripheral neuropathy and is often an early sign of diabetes. It occurs due to nerve damage caused by high blood sugar levels.
